I had a busy photography weekend. And really, a pretty busy week too. There was no slowing down! It was great to get out and explore new places and make friends with similar passions and goals. The weather has been fantastic and I’m making good use of my convertible before it gets too hot to have the top down
On Saturday, the JFT group had a model shoot in Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach, Florida. It’s north of Jacksonville, a neat little town with charm. We visited Fort Clich which is a very old well-preserved fort. It was a great place to photograph aspiring models. I posted several shots:
On Sunday, I had a portrait session with a really cool “eclectic” couple. Everything about them was neat… from driving an electric car, their professions, to hearing her cool English accent. It was neat getting to talk to them. I first connected with her on a blog I read and they invited me to Three Layers Coffeehouse in Springfield. When I was asking friends about this coffeehouse, no one really knew about it. Springfield has a bad rep but Three Layers is a real gem. It was the most welcoming, beautiful coffeehouse I’ve seen in Jacksonville yet. They have a wine bar called the Cellar and a Zen Garden in the back.
Here are a few sneak peaks of their shoot:

Before the shoot, friends from Fort Myers stopped in Jacksonville for lunch while they were passing through town. I’m really impressed by this couple who are fostering several children. I’m always touched when I hear that people are helping make other people’s lives better.

I was privileged to be about to photograph the gorgeous, spunky Deb O’Nair during the latest JFT trip. This woman knows how to work it! View the full set here.

It was a rainy day Saturday in Jacksonville, FL but there were still lovely moments to capture with newborn baby girl Savannah. This precious little girl was only 7 days old when photographed. Taking pictures of a newborn gave my ovaries a little tug… I’ll admit it
Here are some early sneak pics.

A big thank you to Ruth of Roving Girl Photography, who allowed me to join her for this newborn shoot in Atlantic Beach, Florida. It’s great to have an amazing network of photographers who are so receptive to collaboration.
If you’re interested in my photography for newborns, maternity, weddings or portraits, please let me know!
Last Tuesday, I joined many other local artists for the Dolls in Toyland shoot in Jacksonville Beach, FL. This was a great opportunity to capture some seasonal themes with other passionate photographers. These shoots are a great opportunity for me to learn how to coach models, practice manual settings and play with off the camera lighting. I also enjoy the fellowship with other local photographers, models and stylists.
I’ve been in town less than a year and photography has been a blessing. Not only do I get to explore a passion, I get exposed to charming little areas and people in Jacksonville. Photography is not my day job but it does provide a great outlet for me to explore my more creative facets.

A Florida Christmas-
One of the things that prepares me for the Christmas holiday most years is snow. I moved to Jacksonville from Erie, Pennsylvania. Erie, PA gets pretty strong winters. In fact, if we want to be precise, the annual snowfall average for Erie is 88 inches. That’s over 7 feet of snow each year! That’s a total 180 from Jacksonville, which doesn’t get snow. But I love that’s it warm here so I embrace the warmer weather. This sexy doll embraced the Florida Christmas… a sexy holiday wardrobe complimented with palm trees, Christmas bows, and a green bicycle.

Model Grace Castro had a spunky attitude which comes across in the pictures. I love the 8-point starts from the Christmas lights. I think they sparkled like her personality. I adore the socks with the boots.

Model Jessica Baker was fun to shoot. This Gingerbread Girl rocked her socks off in these heels.

Model Melissa Castro was captivating. She’s a tall redhead that memorized the photographers!
