This weekend was an incredible busy photography weekend. I consider that a blessing. I’m finally settling into Jacksonville after being in town for about six months. I’m making friends and there’s always something to do.
But anyway, these are some tires abandoned around Jacksonville. I took them for the Broken Places project… It was quite an adventure. I saw first hand poverty and a glimpse of the lifestyle of those who are lost and broken. Very sad.
I met up with the Broken Places people in Five Points on Saturday afternoon. We were supposed to meet up at Five Points Coffee but they weren’t open yet (late night, Mr. Barista?). I visited Midnight Sun, my favorite Jacksonville hippy shop (okay, it’s the only one I know about) and then went sneaking around trying to find cool graffiti. Mission accomplished there!!!!
We got done early and I was worn out. I went over to Hightide Burrito (which was really great) for lunch/dinner. No one was there (It was 4PM) so I had the whole place to myself. My taco’s were $2. You can’t beat that. Anyway, visit this place so they stick around. Everything is fresh, natural and tasty. Nice & friendly staff. Haha, even cool restrooms…
I missed the Jax Field Trips outing but I was up bright and early the next day for a model shoot. I’ve got soooo many pictures to edit around my day job. But it’s fun and some pictures turned out really great. I even got to use the newly scouted out wall
Anyway, ramble over…
So in a little bit, I’m heading down to Five Points to meet up with some new photographers who doing a project called Broken Places. According to Jaxscene, this project is about,
“heading a photography and art project that challenges several photographers to search out and photograph Jacksonville’s abandoned, lost, rare, eerie, broken, or drab places and things. Each can add their own touch and post processing Styles.
This project is about discovery. When looking for the unknown nooks we will be stumbling upon lots of history and some of the weirdest anomalies in Jacksonville.”
Later tonight, I’m meeting up with the Jax Field Trip shoot in San Marco.
And tomorrow… more photography. I love it! <3
The photos are now live from the breast cancer walk that was in Jacksonville Beach on Saturday, October 10, 2009. Ruth’s hosting the pictures on her gallery. You can purchase the imagery for cost.
