Jax Field Trips: Dungeness Ruins

Dungeness Ruins

Originally uploaded by Jennifer Kinzig Photography

I’m very active with the Jax Field Trip group on Flickr. We go out on monthly photo adventures and side trips.

On Sunday, we boarded a ferry at 9AM in Saint Mary’s Georgia (about an hour north of Jacksonville) to head to Cumberland Island. It was a long day but we had a fun time photographing the land and two models.

My two favorite things about the island were the ruins and the wild horses.

Colors

Hippy shop garmets In the heart of Five Points, is a great little hippie or “import” shop called Midnight Sun Imports.  I love the rich and vibrant colors of these dresses (pictured, right) that were outside on the sidewalk.  I love the smell of incense that resonates in the front of the store. Mmm Nap Champa…. take a moment.  Can you smell it too?

I knew it was *love* when I entered for the first time and they were playing acoustic rockstar god/musical looping genius Keller Williams on the store’s speakers.   I was a freaker right by the speaker yearning for double decker double-wides.

From their site,

Midnight Sun is a retail store that specializes in unique handmade gift items from around the world. We have been in business for over 11 years, and are located in a historical district known as Five Points – Jacksonville, Florida.

In our shop we sell a wide variety of Sterling silver and gemstone jewelry; clothing – skirts, dresses, shoes, sarongs, yoga ware, furniture, wall and floor coverings, picture frames, photo albums, lanterns, natural body care, music, and incense. We hand select our products which are handmade and imported from a variety of countries. Our silver – gemstone and deity jewelry, clothing, and accessories come from Nepal, India, and Thailand. Most of our home furnishings we import from Bali, Indonesia.

Okay, enough gushing.
